Former Liverpool manager Arne Slot has declined the opportunity to take charge of Saudi club Al Ahli. Despite being offered a lucrative contract running until 2029, Slot was not persuaded to accept the role.

Slot is focused on returning to a leading European league, even though he emerged as the frontrunner to replace Matías Jaissle, who recently moved to Newcastle.

The 47-year-old has been out of work since May, following his dismissal from Liverpool after two seasons at the helm of the club at Anfield.

Unless he receives an appealing offer soon, the Dutch coach may end up sitting out the upcoming season.
