Bayer has announced the signing of Spanish left-back Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli. The 25-year-old, a product of Real Madrid’s youth system, has committed to a long-term contract with the German club until June 2031 and will wear the number 3 shirt.
Gutiérrez is expected to fill the void left by fellow Spaniard Alex Grimaldo, who recently transferred to Atlético Madrid. According to reports, the transfer fee was €26 million. Last season, the defender featured in 36 matches for the Italian side and helped secure a Serie A runner-up finish.
Sporting director Simon Rolfes praised Gutiérrez as a technically skilled and attack-minded full-back who will bring added dynamism to the squad. He also described the signing as the club’s primary choice for the position.
