Ivan Calero Expresses Happiness Joining Karpaty Football Club
Yesterday, on July 30, Karpaty announced the signing of 31-year-old Spanish defender Ivan Calero. The newcomer shared his thoughts with the club’s press service.
“I am very happy to be here. From the first conversation with Fran to reaching an agreement, only a few days passed. This showed me that the club truly trusts me and believes in my abilities. I am delighted to become part of Karpaty and want to help the team progress.
I understand what Ukrainians are going through. I know they have been living under very difficult conditions for many years. Watching from afar, you only see the news. But being here, you start to grasp the reality better. Above all, I wish for the war to end as soon as possible so people can return to peaceful lives. I sincerely admire the strength, courage, and resilience of Ukrainians, and I hope that soon everyone will be able to live calmly and build their future.
I have already spent several weeks in preseason training and am gradually reaching optimal shape. Physically, I feel good and am fully ready to help the team as soon as the coach decides I can step onto the field. I know Fran’s demands: he likes intense football, discipline, and teamwork. During his time at Karpaty, he has already shown he can build a quality team. I came here to support the coach, my teammates, and the club as a whole,” Ivan said.
It should be noted that the 31-year-old Spaniard signed a two-year contract with the Lviv club.
