Napoli has issued an official statement following the failed transfer of winger Jesper Lindstrøm to Schalke. The Italian club is prepared to take legal action against the Bundesliga side over the collapsed deal.
As recently as last night, it appeared the transfer would proceed smoothly. The Danish international had already traveled to Germany for his medical examination and had fully agreed on personal terms with Schalke.
The arrangement was set to be a loan with an option to buy for €5 million at the end of the season. However, Schalke’s management abruptly decided to withdraw from the agreement at the last moment.
Now, the Serie A club has released a statement outlining the precise timeline of events, placing full responsibility on the German club and threatening to sue Schalke.
It is worth noting that acquiring Lindstrøm has been a disaster for Napoli. The player joined from Frankfurt for €30 million in 2023 but was immediately loaned out to Everton and Wolfsburg, failing to make an impact in Italy.
