Neto Details Decision to Rejoin Juventus After Free Agency
Norberto Murara Neto, the goalkeeper, has given his first interview since rejoining Juventus. The Brazilian previously played for the Turin club from 2015 to 2017, featuring in 22 matches across two seasons. During that time, he won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, and the Supercoppa Italiana, serving primarily as Gianluigi Buffon’s backup.
Neto was signed again by Juventus last week as a free agent after Kamil Grabara suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury.
“When Juventus called me, I was without a club and spending time with my family. That day, I was watching the Davis Cup match between Brazil and Switzerland, and when the call came from Juve, I didn’t have to think twice,” the Brazilian goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.
“Returning to a familiar environment means there’s no need for a long adaptation period. Previously, we trained in Vinovo, so the camp in Continassa is new to me. What they have managed to build here is simply incredible, and the club deserves praise.
I have felt for several years that I wanted to come back to Italy, so I am very happy and feel ready for this challenge. I have never worked with Luciano Spalletti before, but he has already had a very positive impact on me. The team is strong, and we can achieve the results that Juventus fans expect and accomplish important things here.”
