The Boston Celtics have declined to guarantee a contract for point guard Maksym Shulha for the upcoming NBA season, according to The Boston Globe.
Shulha was eligible to earn the minimum salary of $2.15 million if the Celtics had exercised their option, but he will now enter free agency. However, a return to Boston remains a possibility. Center Amari Williams also did not receive a guaranteed contract but was immediately signed to a two-way deal.
Selected with the 57th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Shulha averaged 0.6 points and 0.5 rebounds over three minutes per game in 11 appearances for the Celtics during his rookie NBA season. He spent the majority of his time playing for the team’s G League affiliate.
