NBA All-Star participant expelled from the team without playing a single game

The Memphis Grizzlies have waived point guard D’Angelo Russell, according to insider Shams Charania.
This move clears the way for the experienced guard to pursue opportunities on the NBA free agent market ahead of the 2026/27 season. Russell was acquired by Memphis in an offseason trade but never appeared in a game for the team.
Originally, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Russell with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Over his career, he has also played for the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks. Notably, Russell earned an NBA All-Star selection in 2019.
