Panathinaikos and AEK have both been hit by an outbreak of a gastrointestinal infection following their return from a preseason tournament in Rhodes.
At Panathinaikos, six staff members fell ill, with several requiring hospitalization. The club’s management is concerned that the infection could spread to players who participated in the tournament, especially since both Panathinaikos and AEK stayed at the same hotel during the competition.
This situation is particularly worrying for Panathinaikos head coach Zeljko Obradovic, as key players Mustafa Fall, Nigel Hayes-Davis, Kendrick Nunn, and Nikos Rogavopoulos are currently sidelined with injuries, while Kostas Sloukas is still regaining full fitness. The club is scheduled to compete in the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament this weekend.
Meanwhile, AEK has reported that eight team members, including five players, have fallen ill. The team is currently unable to conduct full training sessions, compounded by injuries to four of their basketball players.
