Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta reflected on his team’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton in Saturday’s Premier League clash. The Spanish manager admitted that a series of technical mistakes early in the match consistently put his side under pressure.
“First of all, congratulations to Brighton. I’m very disappointed. In the first 20 to 30 minutes, the number of technical errors constantly put us under pressure. That was the root of everything,” Arteta told Match of the Day.
The Arsenal boss emphasized that despite a strong start to the season, the team must learn important lessons from this setback.
“This is a big lesson that we need to take on board. What the team achieved after the World Cup was incredible. But today, we have a lot to learn,” the Spaniard added.
Arteta also praised Brighton for their performance, acknowledging that his side played well below their usual standards.
“Credit to Brighton for what they did. I think we were very far from our level. The international break means we will have more time to process this defeat because it is very, very painful. In any match, you can be thoroughly dismantled if you don’t do what you’re supposed to do,” the Arsenal manager concluded.
