Hans-Joachim Watzke, the president of Borussia Dortmund, plans to hold individual discussions with the club’s sporting director Lars Ricken, marketing director Karsten Kramer, and financial director Thomas Treß, whose contracts are set to expire next summer.

According to SPORT BILD, Watzke intends to present a proposal for contract extensions for all three executives to the club’s supervisory board, which he leads.

Each member of this leadership trio has recorded significant achievements in recent months. Lars Ricken has radically restructured the sporting department, the German publication notes. This overhaul included parting ways with squad planning expert Sven Mislintat, ending cooperation with sporting director Sebastian Kehl, and swiftly appointing Ole Buka to a key position.

Together, they have refreshed the first-team squad and revitalized the club’s youth development strategy. The first young talent to break through under coach Kovač was the 18-year-old Samuele Inacio.

Karsten Kramer, who serves as the official spokesperson for the board, has secured record marketing revenues for the club. This season, sponsorship income is expected to rise by an additional €20 million, enabling Borussia Dortmund to generate around €175 million annually from commercial activities alone.

Financial director Thomas Treß continues to maintain a stable financial balance for the club and has achieved significant cost reductions. In particular, operational expenses unrelated directly to football, including electricity costs, are projected to save the club approximately €10 million in the current fiscal year.
