Luka Modric to Retire from Croatia Duty After October Nations League Match
Renowned Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić is set to play his final match for the national team this autumn.
It has been confirmed that Modrić will end his international career on October 6, in a UEFA Nations League clash against Spain in Split.
The 40-year-old midfielder has already informed Croatia’s head coach Slaven Bilić of his decision. Following this, he will focus entirely on his club career at Milan, where he is expected to extend his contract for one more season.
Modrić made his debut for the Croatian national team in 2006 and has since earned 202 caps, holding the record for the most appearances in the history of the Croatian team.
Throughout his international career, Luka has achieved notable success, including winning the silver medal at the 2018 World Cup, bronze at the 2022 World Cup, and featuring in the final of the 2023 UEFA Nations League.
