Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo shared his thoughts on Croatian national team midfielder Luka Modrić following their recent World Cup 2026 encounter. Portugal secured a victory over Croatia in what could be the final match of the 40-year-old Modrić’s illustrious career.
“I’ve played alongside Luka for many years; we are almost the same age,” Ronaldo told Fox Sports. “I consider him a football legend; he still remains a legend because he continues to perform at a very high level.
“Modrić has incredible qualities. I have told him many times: ‘Luka, congratulations on everything, it’s great to see you again, and I wish you all the best in the coming years of your career.’ It was a pleasure to play against him once more. I hope Modrić keeps playing football.”
It is worth noting that Luka Modrić is currently without a club after his contract with Milan expired on June 30.
