Manchester United suffered a shocking exit from the English League Cup after losing 3-2 to Brighton at Old Trafford.
The hosts took an early two-goal lead, with young Shea Lacey opening the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by Mason Mount doubling the advantage just two minutes later. It appeared that Manchester United had firm control over the match, but before halftime, the visitors reduced the deficit thanks to a goal from Haralampos Kostoulas.
In the second half, the Seagulls completely seized the momentum. Pascal Gross equalized in the 65th minute, and four minutes later, substitute Maxime De Cuyper netted the winner. Despite late substitutions, including the introduction of Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United could not respond. This marked the first time in 50 years that United lost a home match after leading by two goals.
