Mike James, the highest-scoring player in EuroLeague history, explained his decision to move from Monaco to Anadolu Efes, who finished 19th, second to last, in the previous season.
“I appreciated the conversations with the club’s leadership, especially with the general manager and head coach Pablo Laso. I was interested to learn how they envision the team this season and what role they see for me. I thought it was a good opportunity, and that we would have a chance to compete for serious goals. I still believe that, so I’m eagerly looking forward to the start of the season.
I wanted to be somewhere where I felt I had a chance to win. I just felt that they offered me that. I saw in Anadolu Efes the potential to be victorious. Having athletic players who know how to defend, along with big men who can fulfill a variety of tasks, is essentially the recipe for success. Clearly, defenders play a very important and key role in this league’s success, but I think Anadolu Efes’s versatility in other positions gives them a significant advantage,” James said.
