Roberto Mancini, the head coach of the Italy national team, has commented on the financial fair play violations committed by Manchester City during the 2010s. Mancini was the manager of the “Citizens” from 2009 to 2013.
On Friday, it was revealed that an independent commission found Manchester City guilty on all but one charge. However, the sanctions against the Premier League club have not yet been finalized.
“What they found them guilty of? That doesn’t concern me,” Mancini told BBC Sport. “There’s nothing new here because this issue has been discussed for four or five years now.
Manchester City has not been punished yet, and the alleged double contract doesn’t involve me. That is their problem, not mine.”
Previously, the German newspaper Der Spiegel accused Manchester City of paying a “significant portion” of Mancini’s compensation through a fictitious consultancy contract. It was claimed that the club paid Mancini more for his consultancy work with the Abu Dhabi-based club Al-Jazira than for his role as City’s head coach, excluding bonuses and incentive payments.
