Following the passing of his father, Lionel Messi has decided not to return to the United States for the time being and has temporarily stepped away from all commitments with Inter Miami.
Immediately after receiving the tragic news, the 2022 World Cup champion halted his activities in America and flew back to his hometown to be close to his family. He is currently staying in Rosario. The funeral was held privately, attended only by close family members. There is no set date yet for Messi’s return to training or matches. According to Doble Amarilla, he is grieving at his own pace and is fully focused on his family. Alongside him are his mother, brothers, as well as his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and their children.
Several of his Argentina national team teammates, including Leandro Paredes, Nicolás Otamendi, and Ángel Di María, plan to visit Messi soon to offer their support. They did not attend the funeral itself, respecting the family’s wish to keep the ceremony as intimate as possible.
