Michael Carrick: Referee Apologies Do Little to Change Outcomes

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick addressed the issue of refereeing following controversial decisions in recent matches involving his team.

“Apologies from the refereeing team don’t change much. I appreciate and respect the fact that they admitted their mistake and acknowledged they were wrong. Perhaps we will get one or two decisions in our favor, but this one was particularly hard to accept and had a huge impact on the match, which made it especially difficult,” Carrick said.

He was referring to the goal scored by Everton that denied his side a victory, as well as the game against Manchester City last weekend, which ended in a 0-1 defeat.

“It can affect the course of a specific game. But we must not let it influence the rest of the season. Our task is to get back to winning as soon as possible, regardless of refereeing.”
