Harry Kane Identifies Main Rivals for 2026 Ballon d’Or
Bayern Munich and England forward Harry Kane stands out as the leading contender for the Best Player of the Year award. Yet, the 33-year-old striker is fully aware that the competition for the Ballon d’Or will be fierce, with top talents like Kylian Mbappé from Real Madrid, Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain, and Lamine Yamal from Barcelona all in the running.
“Becoming the world’s best player is my goal. It would be an incredible feeling. The Ballon d’Or is the most prestigious individual award. Let’s see what happens,” Kane told Téléfoot in an interview.
“I have many rivals: Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri — they are all top-class players. It’s exciting because anything is possible this year. There’s also Michael Olise, who had an excellent season and performed very well at the World Cup. We’ll see. The Ballon d’Or is truly a special award.”
It is worth noting that the last Bayern Munich player to win the Ballon d’Or was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, when he claimed the honor for the second consecutive year.
“Considering how many legends have played for Bayern, it has been a very long time. Let’s see what happens this year,” Kane added.
