England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming UEFA Nations League clash against Croatia, scheduled for October 3.
“Since we started facing Croatia a few years ago, these matches have become quite regular. They’ve always been a great nation with outstanding players at a high level. Luka Modric is still playing, and credit to him for that. They also have some promising young talents. Tomorrow should be a good game.
I think it’s always a strong, competitive fixture, and we remember losing to them at the 2018 World Cup. But we don’t dwell on recent history, and we’ve generally performed well against them. The Nations League always pits us against tough opponents; it’s crucial to bring our best.
We study the opposition carefully, and although we faced them not long ago, they have a new coach now. They always have substitutes who can pose a threat. We need to be wary of the best version of them and ensure we show our best version,” Pickford told BBC Sport.
