Riyad Mahrez Retires from International Football After Algeria Defeat
Algeria’s captain Riyad Mahrez ended his international career following the 0-2 defeat against Switzerland. After the match, the 35-year-old announced his retirement from the national team.
Mahrez leaves the international stage as Algeria’s record appearance holder, having earned 119 caps for his country.
During his time with the national team, he scored 40 goals and provided 45 assists. Notably, he was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.
Mahrez will continue his club career with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.
