Nico Williams Withdraws from Spain Squad Due to Left Thigh Injury
Spain forward Nico Williams, who started in the 2-3 loss to England and scored after coming on as a substitute in the 4-1 victory over Croatia, is returning to Bilbao. According to La Roja sources, the winger experienced pain in his left thigh following Monday’s Nations League win against Croatia.
After undergoing a medical examination conducted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s doctors, it was decided to withdraw the player from the current squad to continue his recovery. Athletic Bilbao’s medical staff has been regularly updated on his condition, and he will proceed with treatment under the supervision of his club. Head coach Luis de la Fuente opted not to call up a replacement, choosing to continue with 25 players in the squad.
