Gian Piero Gasperini’s team ended their streak of disappointing friendlies with a convincing 4-1 victory over Newport County. Club owner Ryan Friedkin was in attendance to watch the match firsthand, and the new signings for the Giallorossi did not disappoint.
The scoring began in the 38th minute when Mario Hermoso made a successful contribution from midfield. In the second half, the newcomers Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis found the net, with Castro converting a penalty and Koulierakis finishing off a cross from Paulo Dybala. Matías Süle added a fourth goal to seal the win. The hosts managed only a late consolation goal.
The match was not without incident, as a harsh foul on Dybala sparked an on-field scuffle.
