UEFA has officially approved significant changes to the disciplinary regulations for the 2026/27 season. Under the new rules, players and coaching staff will face suspension only after accumulating four yellow cards, rather than three as was previously the case. This adjustment applies across all European club competitions: the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League.
Additionally, UEFA has revised the system for subsequent suspensions due to accumulated cautions. Following the initial suspension triggered by four yellow cards, each additional suspension will be enforced after every two further bookings — specifically after the sixth, eighth, tenth yellow cards, and so forth. This reform aims to standardize disciplinary procedures consistently throughout the entire European season.
