Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto after a hard-fought and impressive victory over Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova.
The match lasted 1 hour and 34 minutes and started poorly for Svitolina, who immediately lost two service games and consequently dropped the first set 3-6. However, she regrouped and dominated the second set, winning it 6-0 without conceding a game.
Maintaining her momentum, Svitolina surged ahead in the deciding set, taking a 5-1 lead and holding on to secure the win. This marked her fourth victory in five encounters against Alexandrova.
