Michael Sweetney, a former NBA center, has passed away at the age of 43 from undisclosed causes.
Sweetney was selected ninth overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and spent the first two seasons of his professional career with the team. He then played for the Chicago Bulls over the following two years.
Throughout his NBA tenure, Sweetney appeared in 233 games, averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
After leaving the league in 2007, he continued his basketball career overseas and in the NBA G League. Sweetney concluded his playing days in 2017 while competing in Uruguay.
