Atlanta has agreed on a trade sending Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard, and cash to Charlotte in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith.
The Hornets acquired Finney-Smith from Houston this summer along with three second-round draft picks. The 33-year-old forward is under contract for three more years, totaling $53 million, including a player option for the 2028/29 season.
Last season, Finney-Smith appeared in 37 games for the Rockets, averaging 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. His three-point shooting percentage dipped to 27%, although his career average stands at 35.9%. He is regarded as a classic “3-and-D” player.
Buddy Hield is set to earn $9.7 million in the upcoming season, with a player option worth just over $10 million for the following year. In the previous campaign, he played 51 games split between Atlanta and Golden State, posting averages of 7.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Twenty-three-year-old Ryan Nembhard went undrafted in the NBA Draft. Last season, he secured a contract with Dallas. In an average of 19.5 minutes per game, the guard contributed 6.6 points and 5.3 assists. The expectation is that Charlotte will waive the player.
