Boston Celtics President Brad Stevens has reached out to the Golden State Warriors to discuss a potential trade involving guard Stephen Curry, according to Sports Illustrated.

Boston reportedly has enough assets to propose a deal that could satisfy both teams.

A key component of the proposed compensation for Golden State is forward Paul George. Over his career, George has earned more than $406 million, and his contract includes a player option for the 2027/2028 season. This means that if the trade goes through, the Warriors would acquire a veteran for at least two years. Additionally, Boston is prepared to offer a substantial number of draft picks as part of the package.

Under his current contract, 38-year-old Curry is set to earn $62.5 million in the 2026/2027 season. Furthermore, by late August 2026, he will be eligible to sign a new extension. Insider Shams Charania of ESPN reports that negotiations between the parties are most likely to begin around that time.

During the 2025/2026 season, Curry averaged 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game, shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range. However, a knee injury forced him to miss 39 games.
