Arturas Žagaras is leaving Europe to continue his career in China. He has signed a contract with Zhejiang Golden Bulls, becoming the first Latvian to play in the Chinese league.
According to the Lithuanian outlet Krepsinis.net, Žagaras was offered a contract by the capital club Rytas. However, the point guard chose to move to China due to the significant salary difference – the Vilnius-based team proposed around 200,000 euros per year, while in Asia he will earn approximately 1 million euros.
Other clubs interested in the basketball player included Alba Berlin, Baskonia, and Paris.
The 26-year-old guard averaged 3.4 points and 1.6 assists in 11 minutes per game in the EuroLeague. In Turkey, he posted averages of 8.9 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists over 17 minutes per game.
