Maccabi Tel Aviv plans to host its EuroLeague home games in Cyprus.
The club recently held its preseason training camp on the island, where team owner Shimon Mizrahi had the opportunity to meet and discuss matters with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
During this meeting, the Israeli side expressed a strong interest in using Cyprus as their home base for EuroLeague fixtures.
Maccabi Tel Aviv has since taken a formal step by sending an official letter to the Cypriot president, confirming their intention to compete on Cyprus while fulfilling their commitments in Europe’s top basketball competition.
The report also indicates that the Cypriot authorities received the request positively.
The exact stadium for hosting the matches has yet to be decided, with two venues under consideration: Spyros Kyprianou Stadium in Limassol and Tassos Papadopoulos – Eleftheria Stadium in Nicosia.
