The Golden State Warriors are reportedly aiming to acquire Washington Wizards center Anthony Davis as part of a plan to eventually sign Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, according to Yahoo Sports.
Davis joined Washington mid-season but has yet to appear for the team due to injuries. He is eager to leave the capital club and is open to a trade. The potential deal with Golden State could involve Jimmy Butler—whose contract worth $57 million is expiring and who is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament tear—along with a significant number of draft picks.
LeBron James, 41, is a free agent, and the Warriors are targeting him in case negotiations with the Lakers, where he previously played alongside Davis, fall through.
