The Memphis Grizzlies have traded point guard Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Jeremy Grant and Chris Murray.
Morant, who was the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, has been the face of the Grizzlies franchise in recent years and earned All-Star selections in 2022 and 2023. However, frequent off-court issues and injuries have diminished his market value, resulting in Memphis not receiving any draft picks in the deal.
Morant’s contract runs through the end of the 2028/29 season. He is set to earn $42.2 million in the 2026/27 season, followed by $44.9 million in each of the subsequent two seasons. Due to injuries last season, Morant appeared in only 20 games, averaging 19.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 8.1 assists over 28.4 minutes per game.
