Barcelona Issues Official Response to Real Madrid’s UEFA Allegations
Barcelona has issued an official statement in response to an attack from Madrid’s Real. The capital club announced today that UEFA has opened an investigation into the Catalan club regarding the Negreira case. Real also handed over 50,000 pages of evidence to the European Football Association, alleging fraudulent activities by Barcelona.
Real has demanded that Barcelona be stripped of all titles won between 2001 and 2018.
Here is Barcelona’s response:
• Barcelona confirms that UEFA has NOT initiated any new investigation against the club. The case was opened in 2023 and has never been closed.
• UEFA has acknowledged receipt of a substantial volume of documents from Real, which will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
• The statement does NOT mention any reopening or new proceedings, nor does it provide any assessment of the content or value of the documents.
• UEFA investigators have NOT yet sent any new requests to Barcelona nor informed the club about Real‘s complaint.
• Barcelona states that the UEFA case remains contingent on the outcome of the ongoing criminal proceedings in Spain.
• Barcelona continues to receive UEFA licensing without objections and has participated in UEFA competitions since the investigation began.
• Barcelona confirms its full cooperation and calls for accuracy and reliability in the coverage of the case.
