Ferran Torres Signs with PSG After Scoring 2026 World Cup Winner
Paris Saint-Germain has officially announced the signing of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres. The striker, who scored the decisive goal in the 2026 World Cup final, has committed to the club until 2031 and will wear the number 9 jersey.
Born in Foios, Spain, on February 29, 2000, Ferran Torres began his football journey playing futsal before joining the Valencia academy at the age of seven. Progressing through the ranks, he became the first player born in the 21st century to appear in La Liga, making his debut against Eibar on December 16, 2017. He spent three seasons competing at the highest level with Valencia.
Torres’ impressive performances earned him a move to Manchester City in 2020. Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, he played three seasons, appearing in 43 matches and scoring 16 goals.
At Barcelona, he established himself as a key attacking figure. Over 207 appearances, Torres netted 65 goals, including a crucial strike in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. During his time with the Catalan club, he helped secure three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.
On the international stage, Ferran Torres has achieved significant success with the Spain national team, winning the UEFA European Championship in Germany and the 2026 World Cup in North America. He etched his name in history by scoring the only goal in the 2026 World Cup final, leading La Roja to victory over Argentina and earning the Man of the Match award.
“I am excited to start this new chapter at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain. I want to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join a team I hope to help win as many trophies as possible,” Torres said in a statement released by PSG.
