AEK owner Makis Angelopoulos has revealed details about an offer the NBA has made to the EuroLeague regarding a financial takeover aimed at creating a new project.
“There is a proposal from the NBA to the EuroLeague. It concerns a takeover—mergers and acquisitions. The EuroLeague would be dissolved. All teams would move to the FIBA Champions League. The NBA offers a 25 percent chance to qualify for the tournament. There are two paths: through the Champions League and national championships. All teams will receive equal funding. Initially, the NBA will grant 12 licenses, with three more issued three years after launch, and another three after six years. This will bring the total number of licenses to 18,” Angelopoulos stated.
