Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić is not planning to sign a new contract with the club this year.
Jokić holds the option for a four-year extension worth $278 million. Although he could have reached an agreement with the team after the NBA Finals, he has yet to do so and does not intend to in the near future.
He is set to earn $59 million next season, with a player option for $62.8 million in the 2027/28 campaign. A year from now, he will again have the right to sign the $278 million deal, so he is in no rush to make a decision and does not feel compelled to commit at this time.
