Real Madrid and Olympiacos head coaches reflected on the aftermath of the EuroLeague Super Cup final, where the Spanish side edged out the Greek team 93-89.
“I congratulate my players. We had a very poor third quarter, but we held firm thanks to solid defense. We controlled the ball and showed the right mindset.
We are in good shape, but we need to improve our game to achieve what we want,” said Pedro Martínez.
“When you don’t win a tournament, you can’t be happy. There were moments in the game when we played well, and moments when we didn’t.
We made quite a few mistakes, many of which were very cheap for this level. I would say we had a chance to win.
We were down by two points, had possession, but then due to a poor shot, we lost the rebound and they scored. Although key aspects of the game, like rebounding, went against us, Real Madrid has a lot of talent and are playing at a very high pace right now. It’s very hard to match that.
We need to stick more to our plan, meaning to have more patience, because when we were patient, we functioned well. At the moments when we rushed, we gave them what they wanted,” admitted Yorgos Bartzokas.
