The Bass brothers are currently negotiating with Tony Parker to acquire ASVEL at a discounted price ranging from 60 to 80 million euros.
Following a turbulent summer during which the club’s projected budget was slashed from 59 million euros to 24 million euros, the French EuroLeague team is undergoing a significant restructuring both on and off the court. Central to the club’s future plans are Joey and Jesse Bass.
Former owners of the Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as potential key investors in the franchise. Talks regarding the takeover are progressing actively, positioning the American sports executives as the primary candidates to purchase the club.
Initially, ASVEL’s shareholders hoped to finalize the deal with the Bass family by the end of September. However, the complex nature of the acquisition has pushed the expected timeline back considerably, making it far more likely that the transaction will be completed by the end of 2026.
The main obstacle in current negotiations is the club’s financial valuation. Several minority shareholders, who recently bought stakes anticipating the future NBA Europe initiative, initially sought a lucrative payout of 120 million euros. The realities of ongoing discussions with the Bass brothers have tempered these expectations. The active price range now under consideration is between 60 and 80 million euros.
