Ukrainian forward Maksym Shepel is set to continue his career in American collegiate basketball.
The 19-year-old product of Cherkasy’s KDYuSSh-1 has secured a full athletic scholarship and will play for the SUNY Niagara Thunderwolves.
The signing was announced by the college itself, as well as the New Haven Heat academy, where Shepel competed during his studies in the United States. Last season, the basketball player also represented The Knox School.
Maksym Shepel is a product of Cherkasy basketball. Born in 2007, the forward stands 203 cm (6 feet 8 inches) tall and is among the candidates for Ukraine’s U-20 youth national team, which will compete in the European Championship Division A next year.
Last summer, Shepel represented Ukraine’s U-18 national team at the European Championship Division B.
The SUNY Niagara Thunderwolves represent Niagara County Community College in New York State and compete in the NJCAA—the National Junior College Athletic Association for two-year colleges in the USA.
