Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Ibrahima Konaté rolled up their shirts before the match between Real Madrid and Elche to conceal the message supporting the residents of Ceuta. Players from both teams entered the Martínez Valero stadium wearing white shirts emblazoned with “Todos somos caballas,” which translates to “We are all Ceutans,” along with references to the Spanish autonomous city.
While most players wore the shirts fully, Mbappé, Vinícius, and Konaté had their sleeves rolled up to around chest level, partially hiding the inscription.
Mbappé and Vinícius removed their shirts before the pre-match handshake, whereas Konaté kept his on a bit longer. Their teammates and the Elche players continued wearing these shirts throughout the pre-match ceremony.
This shirt initiative was part of a broader show of solidarity with Ceuta following a major migration crisis in Spain, where thousands entered the country from Morocco. The actions of Mbappé, Vinícius, and Konaté aimed to demonstrate that not all Real Madrid players agreed with the decision to deport immigrants back to Morocco.
