The heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has been officially scheduled. The fight will take place on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
The venue had been a major sticking point during negotiations for this highly anticipated bout. Fury repeatedly used social media to blame Joshua for the delay, even suggesting a third fight against Oleksandr Usyk, while Joshua’s team insisted the fight be held in the United Kingdom.
“For 15 years, no one managed to organize this fight. Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me,” wrote promoter Turki Al-Sheikh. “Now I can confirm that Fury vs. Joshua will take place in the UK, just as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talk is over.”
The exact start time of the fight has not yet been confirmed. A press conference dedicated to the upcoming bout is scheduled to take place in London on Wednesday, September 30.
