Hamilton Secures Narrow Sprint Qualifying Win at British Grand Prix
Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in today’s sprint qualifying for the British Grand Prix. The Englishman clinched pole position on his final lap, edging out championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes by just 0.01 seconds.
“I love this track and the fans here. Driving on this circuit feels like a dream to me. The car was fantastic today. Ferrari isn’t giving up – we keep pushing forward. We didn’t expect to be competitive here, so this is a big surprise,” Hamilton said after the session.
Starting third in tomorrow’s sprint will be Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, immediately followed by Ferrari’s second driver, Charles Leclerc. George Russell will begin the race from fifth, while McLaren managed only sixth and seventh fastest times.
The British Grand Prix sprint race is scheduled to start on July 4 at 11:00 UTC.
