Cristiano Ronaldo’s Friend Reveals Details of Portugal Team Dispute
Edu Aguirre, a well-known journalist and close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, has revealed details surrounding the 41-year-old player’s departure from the Portugal national team following a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus.
“During a private meeting involving Ronaldo and the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Jesus apologized to Cristiano for making him warm up in the previous match but ultimately not bringing him on as a substitute. The coach also promised to publicly admit his mistake at a press conference and clarify the situation. However, he failed to keep that promise. Instead, according to Ronaldo, Jesus lied and tried to assert that he was in control of the situation while Cristiano was just one of the players. This infuriated Ronaldo. Jorge apologized to him in a private conversation but said something entirely different in public,” Aguirre told Madrid Zone, citing El Chiringuito.
As a result, the journalist claims that Cristiano decided to return home, viewing the incident as a betrayal.
