Croatia Confident of Competing with Spain Ahead of Nations League Match
On the eve of the second round UEFA Nations League match between Spain and Croatia, head coach Slaven Bilić and midfielder Mateo Kovačić shared their views on the possibility of achieving a positive result against La Roja.
“If every player and the team as a whole perform at their highest level, we can compete with Spain. They do have their vulnerabilities. But to play on equal terms with the Spaniards, we need to give our maximum. We don’t need a miracle – just belief in ourselves and quality,” Bilić stated.
“We are facing a tough match against the best team in the world. The Spanish love to keep possession and attack. We also enjoy playing with the ball and are ready to fight. We’ve faced them before, with both good and less successful games. We’ll give it our all.
Spain’s 39-match unbeaten streak can be ended. We will play to win and try to impose a fight on them. Of course, we won’t rush things. We’ll try to play our own football. We know how strong Spain is, but we are good ourselves and confident in our abilities,” Kovačić added.
As a reminder, the Spain versus Croatia match is scheduled for today, October 29. Kickoff is set for 19:45 UTC.
