Tuchel Updates England Squad Fitness Ahead of Czech Republic Clash
England enter their UEFA Nations League clash against Czech Republic with two defensive selection dilemmas. Manager Thomas Tuchel revealed he is still awaiting a final verdict on the fitness of Ezri Konsa and Nico O’Riley, both of whom missed the main team training session ahead of the flight to Prague.
Konsa and O’Riley were the only two of the 24 players called up who did not participate in the full training on Monday, instead following individual training programs.
“I’m not certain yet. They missed training, as you saw. The reason is minor issues, but there are still concerns,” Tuchel explained.
The manager added that the final decision on their availability will come after medical evaluations on Tuesday morning.
“This morning, we held a light session for those expected to start. The last fitness checks will be conducted Tuesday morning. If the doctors and physiotherapists give the green light, then they’ll be fine. One more day of preparation would definitely help. I feel the players on the pitch today are very eager and determined to play,” Tuchel said.
The match between Czech Republic and England is scheduled for today, 29 September, with kickoff set for 18:45 UTC.
