Deportivo celebrated their return to the top flight with a home draw. The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to a brilliant assist from Amatucci, who delivered a perfect pass to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang controlled the ball flawlessly and expertly finished into the net.
The visitors dominated possession, created more chances, and constantly tested Leo Roman. The Galician goalkeeper pulled off some remarkable saves to keep his team in the game after several dangerous attempts. However, in the 76th minute, Elche finally found an equalizer when Marc Aguado headed in a cunning cross from Villar.
In the closing stages, both sides pushed to avoid a draw but lacked the energy for a decisive final assault. Ultimately, the teams shared the points, a result unlikely to satisfy either side.
