FIFA has reportedly instructed the Senegal national football team to remove the star displayed above the team’s crest on their kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to journalist Mikey Junior.
The star was added after Senegal won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. However, FIFA regulations state that stars displayed above a national team’s badge during World Cup competitions may only represent World Cup titles, not victories in other tournaments.
A similar situation previously involved the Egypt national football team. Despite their success at the Africa Cup of Nations, FIFA also requested that Egypt remove the stars from their playing kit during World Cup events.
