Marcos Senesi arrived at the Argentina national team camp in Kansas City, replacing the injured Leonardo Balerdi. Lionel Scaloni has finally gathered the squad in full.

Due to a forecasted storm with hail and tornado risk, the evening training session was moved to the morning. The reigning world champions trained in heavy rain that later gave way to blazing sunshine.

Defensive concerns remain for the coaching staff: Nicolás Tagliafico is training separately. The availability of Julián Álvarez and goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is also in doubt, according to Buenos Aires Times.

Senesi said:
“I want to send my best wishes to Flaco. It’s a difficult situation for him. I’m very happy for this opportunity and I want to enjoy it as much as possible.”

The Tottenham defender was on holiday in Ibiza when he received the call-up.

“I was training and waiting for what would happen. Obviously, I had no contact until the very last moment. Hope is always there, and I held on to it until the end,” he added.

Argentina will open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Algeria.
