Harry Kane Becomes Fastest to Reach 100 Bundesliga Goals
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, a contender for the Ballon d’Or, netted a brace against Union Berlin in their 7-0 victory, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the Bundesliga. With this win, Kane’s Bundesliga goal tally rose to 101.
The England captain achieved this milestone in just 98 appearances, surpassing the previous record held by Dieter Müller, who needed 129 matches to score 100 goals for Cologne. Kane reached the mark 31 games quicker, a difference equivalent to an entire Bundesliga season.
“Honestly, I’m very proud to have reached 100 goals in the Bundesliga. Of course, I’ve done this before in the Premier League, so being able to replicate that achievement in another league is something I’m really proud of. I can only say a huge thank you to the team,” Kane told reporters after the match.
Kane praised his teammates for their focus and maintaining maximum intensity from the first to the last minute against Union Berlin.
“I think we were waiting for a game like this this season. We’ve been winning and playing well, but maybe not at the level of last season. So it was nice to show this kind of performance before the international break. We didn’t want to slip up today before the three-week pause. Our performance was top-level from start to finish. Now we can enjoy this moment,” added the England captain.
Since moving to Germany in 2023, Kane has averaged a goal every 78.3 minutes in the Bundesliga. This scoring rate surpasses that of outstanding forwards such as Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, and Gerd Müller.
With his brace against Union, Kane’s total goals for Bayern Munich have reached 152 in 154 matches across all competitions.
