Monaco Coach Felipe Luis Praises Team’s Resilience After Win Over Lens
Filipe Luis, the Brazilian coach of Monaco, expressed satisfaction with both the result and his team’s performance following their 2-1 victory over Lens in the fifth round of the French Ligue 1.
“I always aim to win and prepare for matches with victory in mind. In the first half, we made a few mistakes, but most importantly, we created numerous scoring opportunities. We could have scored even more. However, when you face a strong team competing in the Champions League and fail to close out the game, you risk conceding a counterattack. Lens is a team with very strong physical conditioning and quality players who gave us trouble.
But I feel my team is starting to appreciate the hardships and stick together! I repeat, winning matches in this Ligue 1 championship is very difficult, and you have to be ready to endure. That was the case today, but fortunately, we managed to score the second goal and secure the win, so I am very happy with this victory.
We knew we would get another chance to score, and the second goal proved decisive. Despite a very challenging start to the season, we have accumulated 13 points in five games. That’s good, and now we need to strive to keep winning in the same spirit!” said Filipe Luis.
It is worth noting that Monaco currently leads the table with 13 points, holding a three-point advantage over their closest challengers, Lille and Rennes.
