Legendary French coach Hervé Renard is on the verge of returning to lead the Ivory Coast national team. The 57-year-old manager is set to replace Emers Faé, who guided the team to victory in 2024.

According to sports media reports, Renard became available after a brief stint as head coach of Tunisia at the 2026 World Cup. The Ivorian football authorities, led by Idriss Diallo, decided to part ways with Faé following the team’s exit against Norway in the Round of 16 at the World Cup.

The federation is placing its trust in a proven winner. Renard famously led the Elephants to the African Championship title in 2015. His primary mission upon return will be to prepare the national squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
